Can you remember what we have been working on this past week?
What new words have you learned?
Did you write something?
This week we have been working on our personal narratives and using the writing process to help us write them.
Do you remember the personal narrative we wrote as a class about Mr. C going to the beach with his friend James?
Do you remember what they did at the beach?
Do you remember what they did at the beach?
My Big Day at the Beach
By Mr. C
Last sumer, I went to the beach. It was great because I love to swim in the water with my freinds. James is my best friend and he also loves the bech.
While we were at the beach, James wntd to fly his kite. The kite got really high in the sky. Then, a big wind blew it into a tree. The kite was stuk in the tree. James pulled on the string, but kite but it did not move. Then I hellpped him pull on the string and the kite fell out of the tree. James was happy and so was I. He let me fly the kite, but we moved away from the tree.

Do you remember how we wrote that story using the writing process?
What was the first step? What did we do even before we started writing?
Do you remember how we did our pre-writing?
We thought about what we wanted to write about and used our story organizer to help us come up with ideas about what to write.
What is the next step in the writing process?
We wrote our drafts using Google Docs.
The next part of the writing process, and the part we are going to focus on today, is to edit.
4 Steps to Editing - Spelling
Do you remember how we have used our dictionaries
before in class to help us find out how to spell a word we don't know?
In today's world of new technology, people have created lots of ways for us to check our spelling using resources that can be found on the internet.
Online Dictionary

Explore the site above and try to figure out how to check the spelling of a word,
and how to find out the definition of that word.
Use this video to help you learn how to use the online dictionary we will be working with today.
Now let's practice using the online dictionary to help us edit words that are misspelled in our writing.
Here are some other online dictionaries you might like or find useful.

Now that we know how to edit our spelling using an online dictionary, let's come back to the personal narratives we wrote this week.
You should be able to open the draft you wrote using Google Docs.
Let's first review some of the tools we will need to use in Google Docs to be able to edit our writings.
Your Turn
Edit your partner's personal narrative to fix or correct their spelling mistakes.
When you finish, share the document with Mr. C so he can see how you have done.

Let's review our objectives to see if we met our learning goals today.
Language Objective:
Were you able to... use an online dictionary to check possibly misspelled words?
Content Objective:
Were you able to... edit the misspellings you could recognize in your partner’s personal narrative?
Job well done!
